The best way is to not spend much time in Zurich and go straight for Ticcino (the Italian part of Ch) i.e Lugano, Lucarno, In many respects better than the French Riviera in my humble opinon… Also many people like interlaken for hiking…

The distances are not that far and well connected by train which is very sceanic and comfortable ( i recommend a rail pass or if you have the time, make stops…Its all beautiful (except for Zurich, met some very rude Swiss Germans)

As for going to Nice I’m pretty sure you would have to travel to a larger city i.eGeneva or down to Milan first to get to Nice by land. No direct trip from Lucerne. But Milan is only 3 or so hours from nice and 1-2 hours from the most beautiful lake regions it the world along the Swiss Italy border.. (again…Ticcino) So perhaps you should consider going south from Zurich?

Here’s the Swiss Rail site to look up schedules:

Zurich to Lucerne is about 50 minutes and costs about 23 Swiss Francs.

Here’s the best connection to Nice from Lucerne:

    Luzern- dep 10:21
on EC 111 EuroCity CISALPINO SAN MARCO, to
    Milano Centrale arr 14:35
    Milano Centrale dep 15:10
    EC 159 EuroCity,
    Nice-Ville arr 19:58
    Duration: 9:37

I doubt that will be cheap. You might find a flight cheaper.
    Look on
And check nearby airports like Basel to Nice is pretty cheap on easyjet. .
